Against a haunting World War I backdrop of coal mines, factories, and a beleaguered working class, Gudrun and Ursula’s temperamental differences spark an ongoing debate regarding their society, their inner lives, and the mysteries between men and women. Lawrence considered this to be his best novel.
D. H. Lawrence (1885-1930) was a British writer of novels, poems, essays, short stories, and plays. Some of the books he wrote in the early 1900s became controversial because they contained direct descriptions of sexual relations. His best-known books are Sons and Lovers, The Rainbow, Women in Love, and Lady Chatterley's Lover.
Maureen O’Brien is an English actress and author best known for her role as Vicki in the BBC television series Doctor Who. Since then, she has reprised the role in Big Finish Productions’ Doctor Who audio plays. Also an accomplished author, she has written numerous detective novels, including Close-Up on Death, Mask of Betrayal, and Dead Innocent.
