“I have an abiding fondness for kooky premises executed well, and Edgar Cantero's Meddling Kids is as kooky as they come. In 1977, the tween members of the Blyton Summer Detective Club solved their last case and went their separate ways. Now it's 1990 and the man they sent to jail has been paroled. These former detectives have unfinished business, so one of them resolves to get the gang back together to find out the dark truth behind that final case. Meddling Kids is a pop-culture savvy, uproarious romp but also an action-packed horror-thriller. Highly recommended for fans of Christopher Moore and Ernest Cline, or anyone seeking a little laughter, nostalgia, or escapism.”Susan Tunis, BookShop West Portal
Blood Like Magic
Blood Like Magic
“What a phenomenal book!! This book takes place in the year 2049 but doesn't have a super futuristic-ky feel to it. It's a very plausible future, where tech has obviously advanced, but they still have Google, so it's not too far-fetched. I love the vast diversity in the book. The author, while seamlessly fitting in trans/gay/straight//cis characters into their story, also highlights the struggles some of the characters face in our current reality, such as misgendering for trans people. There are many current social issues that are touched on in this book, and the author does that with grace and poise. The audiobook version begins with trigger warnings, which was very helpful to know what was coming your way. The characters were relatable (even while being witches!) and likable. The story was fun and engaging and kept me hooked from the beginning. The messages from the author were clear and precise and timely for the current status of our world. All in all an overwhelmingly solid debut.”Sarah, The Book Worm Bookstore

“Traps Upon Traps and Riddles Upon Riddles. When inheriting billions from a stranger things can get tricky. Throw in secret passages, codes to decipher, and word play a plenty and you’re in for a fun roller coaster of a ride. The Inheritance Games is a fun, fast paced read full of riddles, wit, and cute boys. If you’re a fan of escape rooms and mysteries where each answer reveals a new question and rabbit hole to get lost in you’ll love this book. There’s also a great balance of humor and the deeper issues the characters struggle with throughout the narrative like grief and abandonment that I really appreciated. A thoroughly enjoyable read!”Constance, Mysterious Galaxy Books
