Big Summer

A Novel

By Jennifer Weiner
Narrated by: Danielle Macdonald
Length: 10 hours 54 minutes

Big Summer

“I have never read or listened to anything by Jennifer Weiner before, I thought would be a bit too fluffy for me. I was really surprised to find that I really enjoyed this audio. This story about friendship, loyalty, being comfortable with yourself and staying true to yourself, was very well written and I also really enjoyed the narration. I liked it even more once I got to the twist and realized there was a bit of a mystery thrown in! I very much enjoyed listening to this audio. I highly recommend this one to get your summer reading/listening started!!”

Queenie

By Candice Carty-Williams
Narrated by: Shvorne Marks
Length: 9 hours 45 minutes

Queenie

“This was excellent on so many levels. It's been comped as a Bridget Jones + Americanah. But, I think that description does all three books a disservice. Queenie does have some LOL moments but it's has many more serious moments and issues. I listened to this and much of the listen, I was stressed as AF for Queenie. I listened to her make terrible decisions and choices and I listened to her hit rock bottom. And, the whole time, I was rooting for her to just get better. There are so many intersections of race, harassment, coming of age and friendships that it made it a satisfying read. And, just as important, the reader was FANTASTIC.”

The Editor

By Steven Rowley
Narrated by: Michael Urie
Length: 10 hours 20 minutes

The Editor

“Steven Rowley’s new novel is exactly the balm I needed in today’s climate. Focusing on a young writer who discovers that his editor is none other than Jackie Kennedy Onassis, the book explores both romantic and familial relationships in a humorous and touching manner. Although the writing is wickedly barbed and the zingers fly at the speed of a 1940s rom-com, The Editor is so much more. There is real heart in the writing as well as real love between the characters. It’s a true delight and the kind of book people who loved Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine or Less will truly enjoy. Just be prepared with a box of tissues and your favorite cocktail (Jackie would suggest daiquiris).”

Such a Fun Age

By Kiley Reid
Narrated by: Nicole Lewis
Length: 9 hours 58 minutes

Such a Fun Age

“When I attempted to write a review for Such a Fun Age, I was at a loss for words. How could I encapsulate how Kiley Reid’s startling debut perfectly captured what it means to be a woman? The societal pressure, the self-doubt, the perseverance, the constant comparison — all of it was perfectly represented through Reid’s two wonderfully flawed and captivating leads. Follow Emira and Alix, two women on seemingly incongruous paths who find themselves searching for purpose and an authentic sense of self. Such a Fun Age tackles complex issues — race, gender, economic status, and the intersection of them all — yet remains accessible. You will not want to put this book down; when you do, you’ll be itching to pick it back up again.”

All Adults Here

A Novel

By Emma Straub
Narrated by: Emily Rankin
Length: 11 hours 4 minutes

All Adults Here

“The Strick family: dysfunctional people just trying to navigate life. Astrid is a quirky, uptight mother of three adult children. She recently witnessed a woman get hit by a bus, triggering her to explore her life and act before it's too late. Meanwhile, her three children Porter, Nicky & Elliot are making mistakes in their own lives. All Adults Here explores friendships, family, morality, sexuality and most importantly love. I always enjoy a book with some family dysfunction, because whose family isn't a little dysfunctional? Listening to this book was pretty entertaining and found myself chuckling throughout. This book covered many topics without feeling pushy or forced. The characters came off like a real family, that should be on a sitcom. The growth of the family was really well thought out. This book was a win for me, and I will be recommending it to all of my dysfunctional friends.”

Call Me by Your Name

A Novel

By André Aciman
Narrated by: Armie Hammer
Length: 7 hours 43 minutes

Call Me by Your Name

“Some books change you, fundamentally alter something about who you are, how you think, how you feel. Whether it's a new feeling, or that they've opened your eyes to a part of yourself that you weren't aware of, I'm not sure, but what I do know is that Call Me By Your Name was, for me, one of those books. Even through the adolescent language and intensity of the protagonist, or perhaps because of it, this book made me feel something entirely new, or helped me to feel something old in a new way. It takes you back to the intense feelings of longing, of youthful attraction and obsession, and somehow does so both with bluntness and incredible prose. This was my second read (listen) of Call Me By Your Name, and it meant something more and something different this time through, and I imagine that this is that kind of book. The kind that no matter how many times I read it will become something new and something differently important upon every read.”
