Young Omen Daenoth cannot control his deadly supernatural powers. The only thing keeping him from inadvertently destroying everyone and everything around him is a dragon-forged artifact. But when the item is stolen, Omen can either give up his freedom and admit he’s a monster, or find a way to rein in his chaotic psionics.

Terrified his devastating power will kill an innocent, Omen enters into a shady deal with an undead alchemist and fights his way through the fabled, underground Night Games of the arcane city of Hex to retrieve what he has lost.

When he inadvertently frees a talking cat, his erratic powers may be the only weapon capable of protecting this new companion from savage creatures out for feline blood. Can Omen protect the cat and the people of Hex, or will he be forever lost to darkness?

Carol E. Leever, a college professor, has been teaching computer science for many years. An avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, she has also been published in the Sword and Sorceress anthologies. A great lover of cats, she manages to work her feline overlords into her writing, painting, and programming classes—often to the dismay of her students.

Camilla Ochlan is the coauthor of the Of Cats and Dragons epic fantasy series and of the genre-bending urban fantasy/science fiction Werewolf Whisperer series. An unapologetic dog lover and cat servant, Camilla lives in Los Angeles with her husband, three sweet rescue dogs, and a bright orange Abyssinian cat.

P. J. Ochlan, an Audie Award-nominated and multiple AudioFile Earphones Award-winning narrator, has recorded close to 200 audiobooks. His acting career spans more than thirty years and has included Broadway, the New York Shakespeare Festival (under Joseph Papp), critically acclaimed feature films, and regular roles in television series. Along the way, he's worked with countless icons, including Jodie Foster, Clint Eastwood, Robin Williams, Al Pacino, and Garry Marshall.

Reviews

“Redwall, Nimh, Middle Earth—Of Cats and Dragons will soon stand alongside them. Full of wonder, humor, and adventure, this is the rare series guaranteed to thrill young and old alike. Close your eyes, put on your headphones, and strap on your seat belt! Audie Award winner P. J. Ochlan’s brilliant performance is about to transport you to this enchanting world.”

“I was thoroughly enthralled by both the story and the performance. As a former YA librarian, I find that it can be difficult to find books that appeal to both the tweens and older teens. This book seems to bridge that gap wonderfully.”
