A joint venture between Joanne Saul and Samara Walbohm, who met while completing PhDs in Canadian Literature at UofT, Type Books opened the doors to its Queen Street store in April 2006; a Forest Hill Village location followed in 2008; and the third location in the Junction opened in November 2018.

Type offers an extensive collection of contemporary fiction and non-fiction , small press titles, art and design, and children’s books.
